How Florida calculates it

Sales and use tax plus any applicable discretionary sales surtax is due on motor vehicles leased in Florida (GT-800030), collected on the lease payments. County discretionary surtax runs 0.5-1.5% and applies to the first $5,000 of each lease payment — effectively uncapped for a normal payment. State-mandated title, license and registration fees are not taxable.
